Broken Island (from English broken 'broken' , in Argentina Isla Quebrada ) is a 4 km long island in the northern section of Square Bay on the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 2.5 km north of Center Island .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1936) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill discovered them. Rymill initially assumed that it was a peninsula until he identified its actual nature on August 6, 1936 and made the name.
