Bruce Allpress
Bruce Robert Allpress (born August 25, 1930 , † April 23, 2020 in Auckland ) was a New Zealand actor .
Life
Bruce Allpress grew up in Dunedin . From the 1960s he appeared regularly in minstrel shows . He came to television in the 1970s. For several years he played in the New Zealand soap opera Close to Home .
He gained international fame through his portrayal of Aldor in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers . He played an archer of Rohan who shoots the first arrow at an Uruk-hai while defending the castle of Helm's Deep.
At the end of 2019, Allpress was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis . On April 23, 2020, he died at home with his family at the age of 89.
