Brune Poirson

Brune Poirson (born September 1, 1982 in Washington, DC ) is a French politician who has been Secretary of State in the French Ministry of the Environment since 2017 .

Life

Poirson was born in Washington DC in 1982, where her father worked. She studied at Sciences Po in Aix-en-Provence , the London School of Economics and Political Science and the Harvard Kennedy School .

Poirson worked in India for the Minister Sam Pitroda and later for Veolia Environnement . She married a French man there. Her next position was in Boston , where she worked at a green technology incubator. In 2016 she returned to France with her husband. There she decided to become a candidate for the La République en Marche party in the 2017 parliamentary elections in France in the Vaucluse department . Although she was new to politics, her candidacy was accepted. She beat the candidate for the far-right Front National party . After her election she became a member of the National Assembly . A few days later she became State Secretary for the Ministry of the Environment.
