The Brunni is a hiking and winter sports area in Engelberg in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland . Because of its south-facing slope, the area is also known as the “sunny side of Engelberg”. The area has been developed for tourism by Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG since 1950.

Location and surroundings

A cable car takes you from Engelberg to the Ristis middle station at 1,600  m above sea level. M. having the coordinates 46 ° 49 '56.4 "  N , 8 ° 24' 27.5"  O . Right next to it is a summer toboggan run and a large children's playground. From here a chair lift goes up to the Brunnihütte of the Swiss Alpine Club at 1,860  m above sea level. M.

Next to the Brunnihütte is the Härzlisee , in which the peaks of the Titlis massif are reflected. A barefoot path known as the «tickle path» is laid out around the small mountain lake . In the Brunni area there are also four via ferratas and three launch sites for paragliding .

A somewhat exposed hiking trail with a view leads from Brunni high above the End of the World up to the Rugghubel , to the Rugghubelhütte of the Swiss Alpine Club and to the two peaks of Engelberger Rotstock, 2818  m above sea level. M. and Wissigstock 2887  m above sea level. M. To the north and east of the Brunni (Engelberg) are two federal hunting areas .

The Walenpfad , one of the most popular high-altitude hikes in Switzerland, starts from Ristis to the Bannalpsee .
