Bruno Hassler (born in the 20th century ) is a former German disabled athlete .

Career

Bruno Hassler wanted to do sports despite his severe disability . As a sport, he chose table tennis , which he practiced both in the men's singles and in the team. Because of his good performance, he was appointed to the German national handicapped team, with which he successfully participated in the Paralympic Summer Games several times from 1980 . As early as 1984 he was a member of the German Paralympic National Team, where he won the men's singles in class 1B and thus won the gold medal.

He was also there again at the Paralympic Summer Games in 1988 . This time he managed to finish second in his handicapped class 1B in the men's singles and win the silver medal.

For the third time at the Paralympic Summer Games, he was a member of the German Olympic team in 1992 . In wheelchair table tennis in the TT 2 performance group, he won a bronze medal in the men's singles and in the men's team, also in TT 2, with Hassler and Helmut Sperber another bronze medal.

For winning a medal at the Paralympic Summer Games in 1992, he was awarded the silver laurel leaf by Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .
