Bruno Saul

Bruno Saul (born January 8, 1932 in Narva ) is a former communist Estonian politician. He was Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SSR from 1984 to 1988 .

Life

Bruno Saul graduated from the Electrotechnical Institute in Leningrad in 1956 . From 1960 Saul was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). From 1961 to 1966 he worked in the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Estonian SSR. From 1969 to 1975 Saul was Minister for Infrastructure of the Estonian SSR. In 1973 he received a diploma from the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU, and in 1977 the title of candidate in economics (doctorate).

From 1975 to 1983 Bruno Saul was Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SSR. From January 18, 1984 to November 16, 1988 he was Chairman of the Council of Ministers and thus Prime Minister of Estonia. He was replaced by Indrek Toome after his resignation was ultimately demanded by the population because of his unwillingness to reform. From 1984 to 1990 Saul was a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and from 1975 to 1990 a member of the Supreme Soviet of the Estonian SSR.

From 1988 Bruno Saul worked in the private sector. In 1990 he left the CPSU.
