Nipple shield (also nipple shields ) are used by some women in breastfeeding used. Reasons can be breastfeeding problems due to inverted or flat nipples. In addition to nipple shields made of silicone or latex, silver caps are also used. They are placed on the nipples before the baby is put on and cover the wart and its areola.

From a medical point of view, the use of nipple shields is not recommended, as they lead to incorrect suction technology and reduced milk production. In the case of flat or inverted nipples , we recommend pumping briefly before breastfeeding or using a cold washcloth before breastfeeding. Before the start of milk production, i.e. before or at the beginning of pregnancy, the nipples can be corrected using a Niplette .
