Buchberg (Mailberg)

The Buchberg is a 416 meter high wooded mountain in the Hollabrunn district . Its summit, marked with a crucifix , is located in the municipality of Mailberg . It is accessed via the state road 1010, the apex of which is 367  m above sea level. A. achieved.

From a geological point of view, there are only a few small clods of tertiary limestone ( algae limestone , " Leithakalk "), often buried under loess , on softer older layers ( Tegel , sand ). On the hillside, viticulture is carried out both in the direction of Mailberg and in the direction of Immendorf . The cellar lane “Marktweg” in Mailberg is at the foot of the Buchberg, but there are also wine cellars at the foot of the mountain in Immendorf.
