The completely forested Buchenberg has a peak height of 366 m above sea level. NN and is part of the Frauenseer forest . It is located in the district of Springen in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .
A building complex of the Heiligenroda trade union, shaft I. was built on Buchenberg even before the First World War . During the Second World War , a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp was set up, in which prisoners of war had to work in this mine which was taken over by Wintershall AG . A memorial stone by the administration building, which is used today by the Wartburg district as an animal shelter, commemorates the suffering of the victims.
