The Federal Accounting Agency (BHAG) , headquartered in Vienna, is an Austrian company and was founded in 2004 as an institution under public law . It is the central service company for the accounting of the Federal . Its customers include the federal ministries, the highest organs and the legal entities administered by the federal government. It is 100% owned by the Republic of Austria and does not work for profit.

BHAG has further offices in Graz with a branch in Klagenfurt , Linz with a branch in Salzburg and Innsbruck with a branch in Feldkirch .

The legal basis is the Accounting Agency Act (BHAG-G) in the current version of August 13, 2013. Due to the change in the law in 2013, BHAG can now also offer accounting services for local authorities (states, cities, municipalities) under certain conditions. To cover this business area, the subsidiary Agency for Accounting (arw) was founded in Vienna in 2014 . This provides accounting services for the public sector and, on the same legal basis, provides its services exclusively for federal states, cities, municipalities, associations, public companies and holdings that are at least 25% owned by a local authority.

Angelika Schätz has been managing the company since October 2018. The supervisory authority is the Federal Ministry of Finance . The chairman of the supervisory board is Georg Schöppl (as of 2019).
