Book sponsorship

By sponsoring a book , one participates in a sponsorship for a valuable historical document threatened with decay, a manuscript or a printed book .

Wear and tear due to frequent use, war damage, fungal attack , ink damage and material-related deterioration processes have led to the fact that increasingly important fonts can no longer be used by readers and are threatened with decay. The fire disaster on September 2, 2004 in Weimar near the Anna Amalia Library also damaged large holdings that are now laboriously restored. The book sponsorship in the form of a financial donation serves u. a. in addition, repairs, paper deacidificationand other necessary restoration work to ensure preservation. Since government grants only cover a few percent of the funds required for restoration, citizens, companies or foundations that care about the preservation and use of cultural heritage have to take matters into their own hands.
