Buchschachtelberg ( Bučina in Czech ) is a wooded mountain south of the Henneberg district of Johanngeorgenstadt in the western Saxon Ore Mountains , which is 973 m high. The border between Saxony and the Czech Republic runs directly above its summit .
To the northwest of the Buchschachtelberg lies the Kleiner Kranichsee .
In winter there is a cross-country ski run on the Buchschachtelberg and on over the Scheffelsberg from Henneberg towards the border. When the visibility is good, the Buchschachtelberg offers a broad view of the Saxon-Bohemian Upper Ore Mountains.
The Buchschachtelgraben runs west of the mountain on Czech territory.
