The Freisinger Moos is one of the largest still preserved fens in Bavaria. It is located in the Freising district , in the area of the city of Freising and the municipality of Neufahrn and covers an area of approx. 3000 hectares . The Moosach flows through the moss ; it is limited by Vötting (City of Freising), Giggenhausen , Massenhausen , Neufahrn and Pulling .

Geologically it is part of the Munich gravel plain , was originally the floodplain of the Isar , next to Dachauer Moos and Erdinger Moos .

At the beginning of the 20th century, massive interventions in the water balance took place through drainage measures. Nevertheless, the moss character is still largely preserved. Small peat cuttings, litter meadows , wet and humid meadows with extensive agriculture characterize the landscape and provide a habitat for a multitude of plants and animal species typical of lowland peatlands. Endangered plant and animal species - such as the curlew and many orchid species - also occur here; as a result, the Freisinger Moos has national significance as a habitat.

The drinking water protection area of the city of Freising is located in the north of the Freising Moos.

Nature conservation associations such as the Bund Naturschutz, Landesbund für Vogelschutz und Landschaftspflegeverband try to maintain the structure of the landscape - various measures, projects and nature conservation funding programs have been implemented to this end. Pulling north of an observation tower was built coordinates: 48 ° 22 '49.4 "  N , 11 ° 41' 47.6"  O . The west bypass Freising will be built in the next few years through the part of the Moos near the city of Freising . The southern part of the territory lies in the approach path of Munich airport and is therefore strongly influenced by aircraft noise affected.
