Bud Osborne
Bud Osborne (actually Miles Leonard Osborne ; born July 20, 1884 in Knox County , Texas , † February 2, 1964 in Hollywood , California ) was an American film actor . He was seen in over 600 films and television works between 1912 and 1963, often in very small batch roles.
life and work
Osborn had two brothers and a sister; his father died when Bud was six years old. He made his living as a ranch worker in Indian Territory, where he joined Wild West shows around 1910. He also worked for the Buffalo Bill Wildwest Show and worked as a rodeo rider. In 1912 he came to Hollywood, accompanied by circus equipment, where he soon found work in silent films because of his riding skills. He quickly established himself as a specialist in westerns . Attempts to succeed as the main actor with their own production company failed in 1920. The weather-beaten-looking, sharply-featured Osborne had no problem in being used as a gangster and other shady characters, and his smoky voice helped him too. Osborne was especially in demand as a carriage driver.
In his later years, Osborne, whose name was reproduced in various spelling variants, was in small supporting roles in numerous television series such as Have Gun - Will Travel , Bonanza , Bat Masterson , A Thousand Miles of Dust and The Lone Ranger . He played his last role in an episode of The Smoking Colts in 1963. His career lasted 51 years.
Osborne died of a heart attack at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital at the age of 79 . His grave is in the Forest Laen Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
Private
Osborne was married at least four times; from his first marriage he had two children.
