Buddinge is a place in the greater Copenhagen area , which belongs to the Gladsaxe municipality . The place has 7502 inhabitants and is the seat of the administration of Gladsaxe municipality. Buddinge emerged as a smaller village, the name dates back to the Middle Ages. The place only grew at the beginning of the 20th century and became part of the larger city in 1935. The construction of the train station on the outskirts of the town in 1906 contributed significantly to the growth.

history

In 1682 Buddinge consisted of 20 farms and five houses without land. The cultivation area was 826  ares , which was operated in the three-field economy . In 1911 Buddinge had 419 inhabitants. 107 of them worked in agriculture, 84 in handicrafts and industry, 110 in trade and 20 in transport. At the time the station opened in 1906, the town had 399 inhabitants. Soon afterwards it grew to 419 inhabitants in 1911 and 832 inhabitants in 1916. According to the respective censuses (year: inhabitants) 1921: 634, 1925: 1265, 1930: 1619, 1935: 2219. From 1935 the place counted to the Gladsaxe municipality.

In 1930 Buddinge presented itself economically as follows: a doctor's office, city administration, a home for the mentally confused (Lillemose Gaard), a tree nursery , a mill, a cement factory, a rubber goods factory and a fur factory. In addition, there are settlements and garden centers. The large roundabout was laid out in 1953.

The “Buddinge Centret” shopping center is located in the town center. It was built in 1960 and houses a supermarket (“Fakta”), a pharmacy and around 15 specialist shops. The Buddinge Center is one of two commercial and service centers in the municipality.
