from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Budo-Club Randori Berlin eV is a Budo sports association from Berlin with a focus on judo . Since 1974, the club's teams in various age and performance classes have successfully participated in competitions and tournaments. In the youth sector, the club has always been one of the five best Berlin clubs since the late 1980s. Many of today's coaches come from the club's own youth work, such as Benjamin Kleiß-Macht (1st Dan) Sascha Heu (4th Dan), Philipp Heine and Leif Harraß (2nd Dan each) or the former first division fighter Stephan Steigmann (5th Dan) . Dan). National team fighter Marcel Jamet, the six-time Northeast German champion Janine Riemer and the eleven-time Berlin champion Claudia Straub also began their sporting careers at Randori.

About the association

The Budo-Club Randori Berlin eV is not exclusively performance-oriented. Many members practice martial arts training out of the sheer joy of movement and fair discussion with others. When practicing a martial art like judo, experience can be gained that benefits personal development. The training conveys values such as fairness, discipline and patience, from which children in particular can benefit greatly in their further lives. The practice of a martial arts is a versatile physical training at the same time, because it promotes muscle strength, condition and motor properties such as speed , responsiveness and coordination . It is not for nothing that sports doctors often recommend children to participate in a martial art.

The Budo-Club Randori Berlin eV is therefore strongly committed to youth work. In addition to "normal" training, activities with children and young people are often carried out on weekends. Not only judo is on the program, but also skiing and surfing weekends. There are currently almost 200 active competitors among almost 1,000 judoka in the club. For comparison: In the preliminary rounds of the Berlin U11 and U14 championships, over 500 children compete every year, almost every tenth was from Randori!

The Budo-Club Randori Berlin eV is also represented at tournaments across Germany, for example at the German University Championships or the German team championships of the regional associations. In addition, Randori organizes several Berlin championships and major tournaments year after year.

The association is involved in several exchange projects and organizes training stays in countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Tunisia, Russia, the USA and Israel. In return, there are regular international guests such as judoka from Japan, France and the Netherlands, the junior selection from Mozambique and, most recently, judoka from Kuwait. In a project on judo and sambo, Randori is in lively exchange with Georgia.
