Nikola Bue Shpata was protovestarius of the Serbian tsar from 1345 to 1349 . His son Pjetër I was named in 1354 as Lord of Delvino and Angelokastron (since 2011 a district of Agrinio ) in the Despotate of Epirus .

The most powerful representative of the sex was Gjin Bua Shpata (also Ghin Bua Spata ) († 1400). Since 1358 he has been attested as the despot of Angelokastron and Acheloos . After 1375 he also ruled Arta and Lepanto .

The other family members living in the second half of the 15th century mostly sold their small dominions in Greece and Albania to the Republic of Venice , and some also became vassals of the Ottomans.
