Buggs Island is an uninhabited, forested island in the Roanoke River , Virginia . The island is located directly below the dam of the John H. Kerr Reservoir and is part of Mecklenburg County . It is named after Samuel Bugg, an early settler in the 18th century.

Buggs Island is just over two kilometers long and up to 500 meters wide.
