Buggy
A buggy is a light, spring-loaded, one- horse horse - drawn carriage , today mostly with two axles, a bench and a mostly low-lying loading area behind it. In contrast to the carriage , it has no hood .
Originally a buggy was a two-wheeled carriage with one seat. Later, the term buggy was mainly used for a carriage with four wheels of equal size, transverse suspension and a long boom ; such wagons are still in use with the Amish in the USA as American trotting wagons .
In Europe, a buggy is usually used to describe a Phaeton- style car with a long tree, front with transverse and rear with longitudinal suspension .
But there are also designs without a long boom that have transverse springs at the front and rear.
