history

Morsum lies partly in the lean zone of the Weser and partly on a valley sand terrace. These areas with their low elevations offered the settlers protection from floods .

They were also preferred because of the fertile soil. Due to the good marshland, a high-breeding area for cattle was created in Morsum. Morsum is one of the youngest villages in the Wesermarsch. The first written mention as "Morsum or Lerdorpe" took place in 1486, Lerdorpe is probably the older name. Due to the fertile lowlands of the Weser and Aller , Morsum already owned two estates in the 16th and 17th centuries. The Halbmeierhöfe , Pflugkötner and Brinksitzer were added to the estates around 1800 .

Ahsen-Oetzen originated on islands within the arms of the Weser and can be described as a swarm settlement . Oetzen was first mentioned in a document in 1250 and Ahsen in 1534, Beppen was first mentioned in a document in 1250.

In 1801 the Neu-Morsum settlement near Beppen was mentioned in a document.

The first written mention of Wulmstorf was in 1200 as "Vulmestorpe", with Kuhlenkamp in 1511, Wackershausen in 1703 and Neu-Wulmstorf in 1801. Wulmstorf also owned two estates in the 16th and 17th centuries due to the fertile lowlands of the Weser and the good arable land on the edge of the valley sand terrace. Around 1800 the Halbmeierhöfe and Handkötner were added to the estates.

Until 1852 Morsum, Beppen and Wulmstorf belonged to the West-Thedinghausen office and from 1864 to the Verden office. Ahsen-Oetzen becomes Braunschweig with the peace treaty of Celle 1679/81 together with the other localities of the Thedinghausen office. From January 1, 1966, the place belonged to the former "small joint community Thedinghausen". The law on the reorganization of the municipalities in the Verden area of April 6, 1972, merged the municipalities of Ahsen-Oetzen, Beppen, Morsum and Wulmstorf into one municipality on July 1, 1972. Since November 1, 2006, Morsum and Thedinghausen have formed the new, enlarged municipality of Thedinghausen. Thedinghausen grew by 2878 Morsumers.
