On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Holtorf-Lunsen was incorporated into the municipality of Thedinghausen. This moved to the district of Verden.

Holtorf is one kilometer south of the L 203 from Thedinghausen to Verden (Aller) . The village is connected to the L 203 via Holtorfer Dorfstraße. Otherwise Holtorf is far from the main traffic. The A 27 runs seven kilometers north and the A 1 ten kilometers north or northwest.
