description

The former parish church was built in the 13th century. It is isolated around three kilometers west of Dalbeattie. A choir was added to the nave during the 14th century . Since the church was added to Sweetheart Abbey in 1381 , the addition may correlate with this date. The masonry consists of rough quarry stone with natural stone details , with stone blocks used as corner stones .

The nave is entered via a round arched door on the western gable side. There is an arched window above. Both elements may have been rebuilt during later restoration work. On the gable there is a small roof turret with an open bell. It dates from the 16th century. The choir is a little wider than the nave. A pointed arch separates it from the nave. Three lancet windows are arranged in the east gable .
