The dead straight, a little over 700 meters long street connects the city center at Skanderbeg-Platz with Franz-Nopca-Platz to the north of it, where the train station was until 2013 .

The Bulevardi Zogu i Parë is the northern continuation of the Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit , which connects the central Skanderbeg Square with the Mother Teresa Square in the south, and for which reason it was also temporarily called Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit . Together, the streets form a continuous north-south axis through the center of Tirana, which from 2013 was continued further north via the area of the former train station. The so-called Bulevardi i Ri (New Boulevard) opens up the northern parts of the city and suburbs; Another piece was opened in 2019, so that today it almost leads to the Tirana River.

Like Rruga e Kavajës, which leads west from Skanderbeg Square, the boulevard is divided by a wide median. The median is planted with trees and is now used as a cycle path.

For the future it is planned that a tram line will run through the street.

history

Construction work on Bulevardi Zogu i Parë began in 1930 and lasted for a number of years. During the reign of the Labor Party , the boulevard in Bulevardi Stalin was named in honor of Josef Stalin . Today the lanes are separated by a median with a sidewalk.

The boulevard begins at Skanderbeg Square, where the Tirana International Hotel is first on the right and the National Historical Museum with the associated flower garden on the left. Since the redesign of Skanderbeg Square in 2017, the first few meters have been traffic-calmed and included in the design of the square. The boulevard then crosses the Inner Ring , here consisting of the streets Rruga Urani Pano (east) and Rruga Ded Gjo Luli (west). This is followed by multi-storey buildings with apartments, shops and offices, before the streets Rruga Fortuzi to the west and Rruga Bardhok Biba to the east join at an intersection . At the next intersection between Bulevardi Zogu i Parë and Rruga Fortuzi , the High Council of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior are located in the same building . Further along the street, there are relatively small residential buildings on the left and right, before multi-storey prefabricated buildings follow. To the right of the boulevard is the obstetric-gynecological university hospital "Queen Géraldine", directly opposite is the natural science faculty of the University of Tirana . Just before the road ends, Rruga Haxhi Hysen Dalliu road branches off to the left . The Bulevardi Zogu i Parë ends at Franz-Nopca-Platz on the second ring ( Rruga Asim Vokshi to the west, Rruga Reshit Petrela to the east). There are fairly tall residential and office buildings all around. In the north, where the Tirana train station was located until 2013, the Bulevardi i Ri, which is still unobstructed on the sides, extends today.
