Association of European Scouts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of European Scouts (BEP) is a small German scout association . It is a member of the German Scout Association (DPV) and the Confédération Européenne de Scoutisme (CES).

history

The roots of the BEP lie in the Federation of European Youth , which wanted to realize a Europe "without border posts". In 1952, the BEJ became the European Scouts with groups in several countries, including Germany and Austria .

In 1954 the German association changed its name to Association of European Scouts / Europe Scouts . In the same year, the German scouts for Europe joined forces with the Bündische scouting association from Berlin , a spin-off from the German Scout Association . But after only one year this connection broke again because the Bündische Scouting Society was not oriented enough according to the BEP.

After differences arose within the Europe Scouts in 1956, the BEP left this umbrella organization and founded the Fédération du Scoutisme Européen (FSE) together with the French European Scouts . This umbrella organization was subsequently joined by other national scout associations.

During the 1970s there were conflicts within the FSE with the French association, among other things on the issues of co-education and denominational ties. That is why the BEP left the FSE together with other European associations in 1978 and founded a new umbrella association, the CES.

Since the beginning of the 1980s, the BEP attached greater importance to national cooperation with other scout associations. In 1982 he first became a cooperative member, then a year later a permanent member of the DPV.
