Confédération Européenne de Scoutisme

The Confédération Européenne de Scoutisme (CES, European Confederation of the Scout Movement ) is an international scout association in which scout associations from seven European countries have joined forces with the legal form aisbl.The exact number of members of the CES is unknown, estimates are between 12,000 and 15,000 members (including ZHR ).

The organization was founded in 1978 by several associations that had previously belonged to the Fédération du Scoutisme Européen or the Union Internationale des Guides et Scouts d'Europe and were excluded from these after disputes over the religious ties of the groups or they were voluntarily for the same reason had left.

In the following years, various other associations with different origins and traditions joined the CES.

Member associations

The member associations come from seven countries. Members of the CES are (as of 2015):

  • Belgium - Europe et Scoutisme
  • Germany - Association of European Scouts (BEP)
  • Great Britain - FSE European Scout Federation (British Association)
  • Italy - Federazione Scautistica Italia (umbrella organization with two member organizations)
  • Netherlands - FSE Federatie Scouting Europa Nederland
  • Poland - Związek Harcerstwa Rzeczypospolitej (ZHR; associate member)
  • Spain - Organizacion Juvenile Espanola (OJE; associate member)

Formerly affiliated with CES:

  • France - Fédération Française de Scoutisme (FFDS; umbrella organization with member groups in Germany)
  • Italy - Federazione Scautistica Italiana (FEDERSCOUT; umbrella organization)
  • Poland - Związek Harcerstwa Rzeczypospolitej (ZHR; associate member)
  • Portugal - Associação das Guias e Escuteiros da Europa (AGEE)
  • Spain - Confederación española de federaciones y asociaciones scouts (CEFAS; umbrella organization)
