The Federal Office Building Erdberg is a building complex in the 3rd Vienna district road at the Erdbergstraße 192-196. It currently houses the Austrian State Archives and the Federal Administrative Court . The Viennese ball sports high school is also located in the building complex .

history

The plans for the Federal Office Building (BAG) go back to 1978. Construction work began in 1981 and was scheduled for completion in 1986. In 1984, most of the external work on the State Archives section was completed, while construction work on the customs guard school and tax office was still in full swing.

In 1995 the Federal Customs and Customs Guard School moved into the northern part of the building complex and remained there until the customs guard was closed. Subsequently, the Federal Finance Academy and the Landstrasse tax office were also housed at the site. After the customs station has been relocated, some of its facilities are used by the Federal Police. For a short time it was also considered to accommodate other police departments in the BAG.

The rooms of the customs guard school should subsequently be used as a student residence . In September 2014, however, it was surprisingly announced that these rooms would be used as emergency quarters for refugees for a short time. At the beginning of February 2015, the last refugees left the temporary accommodation and were distributed to other federal states.
