The Federal Association of Publicly Appointed, Sworn and Qualified Experts e. V. (BVS) is the umbrella organization of publicly appointed and sworn experts in Germany .

The BVS is subdivided into 12 regional associations and 11 professional associations. The regional associations and the other professional associations have (2004) around 4,000 members from around 200 different subject areas. Members of the BVS are the respective regional associations or other professional associations as well as individual members under special conditions. The BVS is based in Berlin . Willi Schmidbauer from Munich has been president since 2013.

The association's experts prepare expert reports for authorities , business , industry and commerce and for private consumers as well as for courts and public prosecutors .

The prerequisite for the membership of an expert in a regional association of the BVS is the public appointment and swearing-in or a comparable certification by state bodies or by registered certification bodies of the German accreditation body .

The German Expert Day (DST) is held every two years together with other associations.

The BVS also organizes the German Art Expert Day (KST) every two years, alternating with the DST .
