Federal Association of Thalidomide Victims

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Federal Association of Thalidomide Victims was founded in 1963 as an amalgamation of the regional interest groups of the parents of thalidomide-damaged children. The exchange of experiences between the parents and the trial against the Stolberg company Grünenthal was at the fore. The chairmen were among others from 1963-1967 Karl Hermann Schulte-Hillen, victim lawyer in the process , and 1972-1991 Hans-Helmut Schleifenbaum, since 1991 Margit Hudelmaier . Today the federal association exists as one of many representatives of the interests of thalidomide victims, B. next to the Contergannetzwerk Deutschland eV .

Although the federal association initially declared itself to be “neutral” in the legal dispute between Grünenthal and the Zeitsprung company over the television film “A Single Tablet” , the thalidomide pensions were doubled due to public pressure as a result of the film.

Margit Hudelmaier is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Contergan Foundation . The deputy chairman Thorsten Albrecht is, like two other advisory board members, a member of the research advisory board of the Contergan Foundation.
