The Federal Association of Retail Gardeners (BVE) in the Central Association of Horticulture e. V. (ZVG) is the professional association of all trade and service-oriented and manufacturing horticultural companies with direct customer contact organized in the regional associations of the ZVG. It is one of the five main pillars of the ZVG.

The BVE is active in many fields. It represents the professional and political interests of the more than 2,500 retail gardeners in the ZVG and vis-à-vis the associations, authorities and organizations active at the federal level . In addition to safeguarding economic and social interests, the work also focuses on individual company support for member companies. Its aim is to strengthen the competitiveness of retail gardeners and promote their professional development.
The technical work of the BVE includes various marketing campaigns, the quality mark test for premium gardening, the development of own brands for the horticultural retail trade, the organization of conferences, training seminars and competitions for seasonal events.
Public relations are also an important topic in the work of the BVE. In addition to targeted addressing via the consumer media, a nationwide uniform Internet presence for retail nurseries is maintained. Particular attention is drawn to the technical know-how, the diverse services and products of the specialist companies.

BVE board of directors
The BVE board of directors is the highest decision-making body. The chairperson and his three deputies chair the meeting. The members of the board consist of the members of the executive board of the BVE, one delegate each from the 10 regional horticultural associations, a representative of the specialist association for green space and hydroponics (FvRH) and a representative of the gardening nurseries BdB e. V. (GBV) together.
