Federation of German Airlines (BDF) e. V. was founded in 1976 as the Association of German Aviation Companies (ADL) and renamed the Federal Association of German Airlines (BDF) in July 2006. The association represents almost all German airlines . The seven members ( Condor , Eurowings , German Airways , Lufthansa , Lufthansa Cargo , TUIfly and WDL Aviation ) are active in scheduled, charter, freight and low-cost traffic.

The BDF represents the German airlines to the airports and to politics, business and administration in Germany. At the European level, it exerts influence through the European airline associations AEA , AIRE , and ERA and through the German representatives in European committees.

The president is Ralf Teckentrup (also managing director of Condor ). Michael Engel has been managing the association since 2008. The office is located in Berlin .
