The Federal Association of the Tobacco Industry and Novel Products (BVTE) is the central association of the German tobacco industry in the legal form of a registered association based in Berlin. It represents the interests of manufacturers and traders of classic tobacco products such as cigarettes , cigars , smoking tobacco, snuff or chewing tobacco as well as new products such as tobacco heaters and e-cigarettes in Germany.

history

The BVTE was founded on September 2, 2019 in Berlin as the new industry umbrella organization for the tobacco industry in Germany. At the time it was founded, the association had 13 full association members, including the German Cigarette Association (DZV) as well as the companies British American Tobacco (BAT) Germany, Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken , Heintz van Landewyck and Niko Liquids . The initiators of the association include Hans-Josef Fischer, managing director of the DZV and the tobacco company Landewyck, and the Reemtsma boss and DZV board chairman Michael Kaib.
