history

In 1886 the brothers Arthur and Robert Bunning came to Western Australia . Robert Bunning and his brother bought a sawmill in North Dandalup in 1897 and Bunnings Bros Pyt Ltd was established. Robert Bunning (1859–1936) was an innovative entrepreneur who put the first band saw into operation in Western Australia and also built the first wood drying plant there. In 1952, the company expanded as a timber supplier for house construction under the company name Bunnings in Western Australia, when it bought other timber dealers and became the largest timber supplier there. From 1993 branches were established in South Australia , Victoria and on the east coast of Australia. From 2001 branches were added in New Zealand and since 2016 Bunnings has also been represented in Great Britain through the acquisition of a retail chain.

In 2015, Bunnings operated 248 DIY centers, 73 smaller DIY stores, 33 trading centers and 3 centers for scaffolding and roof construction in Australia and New Zealand . In 2015 the company achieved a turnover of 9.5 billion AUD . As of December 31, 2016, Bunnings had more than 40,000 employees.

Charity events
