Buonaccorso da Montemagno the Elder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buonaccorso da Montemagno the Elder (* probably between 1313 and 1316 in Pistoia ; † 1390 at the latest ) was a Tuscan politician and poet.

Buonaccorso da Montemagno came from a family that played an important role in the political life of Pistoia. Between 1350 and 1380 he exercised various municipal official functions. His administrative tasks in the Pistoia area are also well documented. There are indirect indications that Buonaccorso da Montemagno also acted as a lawyer, but no concrete evidence is known.

Buonaccorso da Montemagno is the author of eight sonnets and a madrigal , which in the past have repeatedly been confused with the works of his grandson, Buonaccorso da Montemagno the Younger , and which are otherwise the subject of discussions about attribution. The works, which are in Italian, were probably created as early as the first half of the 14th century.
