Burchard III. von Warberg (* before 1415; † 1458 ) was a German canon, provost and bishop.

Life

Burchard III. von Warberg came from the family of the noblemen von Warberg . He studied law in Bologna . He was canon in Magdeburg from 1415, in Halberstadt from 1417 to 1419 and in Hildesheim from 1425. In 1429 he became provost of Walbeck Abbey and in 1430 cathedral provost in Magdeburg.

From 1437 until his death Warberg officiated as bishop of the Halberstadt diocese . In the course of his reign there were armed conflicts with the Counts of Hohnstein (1437–1439). Burchard tried several times to conclude alliances with other cities, including Magdeburg , Halberstadt , Quedlinburg , Aschersleben and Goslar , in 1443 even with 30 Hanseatic cities for three years. Financial difficulties meant that Burchard not only pressed the Jews from Halberstadt financially, but also pledged the court to the city of Halberstadt in 1457.
