Burckhardt Wilhelm von Westerholt (* 1622 ; † August 1682 ) was an electoral chamberlain .

Life

Origin and family

Burckhardt Wilhelm von Westerholt, Herr auf Lembeck, zu Alst, Haselünne and Lake, grew up as the son of Bernhard von Westerholt zu Hackfort and his wife Sophia Elisabeth von Westerholt (1600–1638) together with his siblings Hedwig Anna Sophia (* 1631, ∞ with Dietrich Hermann von Merveldt), Anna Elisabeth (∞ with Rutger Ketteler) and Hermann Otto in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Westerholt . On October 25, 1653 he married Clara von der Recke zu Haren , from which the son Dietrich Conrad (1658-1702) emerged. This left the Lembeck Castle in the years 1670-1692 one of the largest moated castles of the Münsterland rebuilt and expanded. The second marriage was on October 4, 1679 with Anna Gertrud Dirking from a civil class.

Career and work

In 1634 he enrolled at the University of Orléans and became treasurer of the Electorate of Cologne . He obtained the title of Privy Councilor and in 1667 was envoy to the Reichstag in Regensburg . His son Johann Adolf comes from a relationship with Margaretha Borchorst.
