Angern Castle ( Estonian Angerja Vasalllinnus ) was a vassal castle of the Reval Commandery . The ruins of the castle are located in the village of Kohila (German: Koil) in the Rapla (German: Rappel) district in Estonia .
history
Angern Castle was probably built around 1400. A nearby mill was mentioned in a document in 1424. At the beginning of the 15th century, Bernd Kudesel owned the Angern farm. From 1451 to 1455 Angern Castle belonged to the Livonian Order , who sold it to Brun Wetberg in 1455. It is believed that the castle was destroyed in the Livonian War .
Building stock
The small tower castle , a strongly fortified house, was built from limestone walls at a higher point on the bank of the stream. At a later time, a courtyard-like building was added to the main building in the east.
