history

In 1614 Ii Naokatsu received the Anaka fiefdom. The following year, he built a castle on a flat hill between the Tsukumo River (九 十九 川) in the north and the Usui River (碓 氷川) in the south, on which there were remains of a fortification from the Sengoku period . which was not much more than a permanent house (陣 屋, Jinya). It was followed by the branches of Mizuno, Hotta, Itakura, Naitō and finally another branch of Itakura in 1749, who ruled there until the Meiji Restoration.

Today there is a town primary school and other public buildings on the site. Part of it became a residential area, another part became arable land. Remnants of the earth wall and moats have been preserved. In the vicinity of the castle, which was settled by samurai, a samurai residence from the Edo period has been preserved. In the entrance area to the primary school there is a plaque on a brick foundation, the text of which refers to the castle.
