history

Dědice Castle was probably built after the middle of the 13th century by Milota von Dědice, who came from the noble Beneschau family . It was first mentioned in writing in 1278, when Milota fought alongside Ottokar II Přemysl in the battle on the Marchfeld and is said to have betrayed him. Since 1372 the castle belonged to Albrecht von Sternberg , who to distinguish his New Castle Stagnov as Old Castle ( starý hrad hereinafter).

The castle became extinct in the 15th century. It is not certain whether it perished during the Hussite Wars or later during the Moravian Fratricidal War. The court at the old castle was mentioned for the last time in 1535.

The remains of the walls were used as building material from 1761 when the Hamilton settlement was built.

Only ditches and the mighty castle wall as well as some wall remnants remained.
