The castle Langensteinbach even RömerTurm called, which is ruin the rest of a hilltop castle on a hill south of the village Langensteinbach , a district of Karlovy Vary in the district of Karlsruhe in Baden-Wuerttemberg . In the immediate vicinity are the ruins of the St. Barbara Chapel, which was later built .
The castle was built around 1100 as a tower castle. The tower had 3.5 meters thick foundation walls at the base and was probably 35 meters high. After the tower was partially destroyed by fire, a trench was dug directly adjacent to the foundations when it was rebuilt to protect it from siege engines . The castle was given up again in the 13th century. The dating resulted from the ceramic remains found during an excavation in the 1970s.
Only the stump of the residential tower, which was restored during the excavation, and a surrounding moat wall construction remain of the former castle complex.
