The castle Lasberg was located in the same municipality in the district of Freistadt of Upper Austria and now includes the building market 14 (Grange) and market 17 (parsonage).

history

The Griesbach family, who cleared the northern forest, owned a manor in Lasberg. In 1125 Adalbert von Griesbach donated his house and the courtyard ("Herrenhof") next to the church to St. Florian Monastery . A Walchun and his son Werner von Griesbach are also mentioned. With the death of Werner von Griesbach's three sons, this family died out in 1221.

The manor was given to followers and feudal people of the Griesbacher, namely to the Lords of Lasberg, who came to the northern forest as "clearing assistants" of the Griesbacher. The Lasberger family is first mentioned in 1170. After the Griesbachers died out, they became the lords of the lords of Lasberg. In a dispute over the tithe with Weinberg in 1395, Duke Albrecht IV confirmed : “Hanns Lasberger has to fief the vest zu Lasperg. Item den pawhof daselbs. ”In 1430“ ain hofstat dacz Locperg im dorff ”is mentioned. So it seems certain that there were two different structures in Lasberg, namely an abandoned castle on the Buchberg ("Hoh 'Haus am Buchberg") and the residence in the village, which is to be equated with the later rectory.

To the yard to Lasberg included a Grange and also the still preserved old forge, possibly the church was St. Vitus in the castle included. The property was walled and perhaps served as a refuge for the population during the Hussite Wars .

Lasberg Castle today

Around 1416 Hanns the Lasberger gave away or sold his fortress to the pastor of Lasberg. In 1702 the aristocratic residence was rebuilt in a baroque style and "the Gschloß" now serves as a parsonage. The year is on the granite entrance portal to the rectory. Vaults in the building are reminiscent of the earlier castle. The associated farrier and wagon smithy was in operation from 1526 to 1953.
