Münch Castle

The castle Münch , even moated castle is called an Outbound Wasserburg in the city Münchenbernsdorf (Castle Street) in the district of Greiz ( Thuringia ).

history

Presumably, the moated castle was built in the 12th century to protect the "Regensburger Straße" by the Münch family, who remained the owners of the castle until 1585. In the 16th and 18th centuries the castle was converted into a moated castle and later fell into disrepair.

Todays use

After the moated castle had been left to decay for years, it was demolished in 1965 against the objection of the monument authorities and today only shows an archway with a connected sandstone building .
