In 1945, towards the end of the Second World War , Gleichenberg Castle was largely demolished during fighting. The castle was finally destroyed by fire on September 7, 1983.

architecture

The former stately building, which was laid out around a rectangular three-storey arcade courtyard, had an eastern outwork. The final shape with a significant expansion of the building was created under Count Maximilian von und zu Trauttmansdorff (1584–1650). The final inscription “1624” is above the rusticated portal at the south entrance. Next to the arcade courtyard there was a 4.30 m thick shield wall from the 14th century.

In the vicinity of the former castle there is a dairy building and a tavern, which is labeled "1842". In front of it is a stone figure of St. Laurenzius from the 18th century.
