Opárno Castle
The castle Opárno even Opáren (German Wopparn ) is located on a hill above the Milleschauer stream near the community Opárno (Wopparn) in the left bank Czech Central Mountains in the Czech Republic . The castle was of the rare type of castle without a keep or residential tower ; only the mighty, crenellated mantle wall exercised the defensive function. Today only the outer walls and the remains of the buildings inside are preserved.
The castle was founded around 1344 by Smil von Vchynice , an ancestor of the von Kinsky family . In 1536 it was called desolate.
