The ruins of Pottenstein Castle are located above Potštejn , Czech Republic . The hill fort was first mentioned in 1287 and then belonged to Botho von Bothenstein ( Půta z Potštejna ). Later the castle belonged to Puta d. J. von Častolowitz , Hynek Kruschina von Lichtenburg and Wilhelm II. Von Pernstein . After the death of Wilhelm von Pernstein, the castle was sold as an inheritance, was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Since 1746 Pottenstein has belonged to Count Johann Ludwig Harbuval de Chamaré, who had parts of the castle restored.
