Leuchtenberg Castle Festival

The Leuchtenberg Castle Festival is a theater festival that was organized by the Vohenstrauss City Stage from 1982 to 2009 . Since the 2010 season, the events have been run by the Landestheater Oberpfalz GmbH, a subsidiary of the Vohenstrauß Stadtbühne.

The Burgfestspiele count with an annual eight productions in some 110 performances and 30,000 spectators to the largest theater festival in Bavaria. Its organizer, the Upper Palatinate State Theater, is the second largest theater in the region. The schedule of the Leuchtenberg Castle Festival offers theater of various facets. In addition to the genres Bavarian folk theater, classical drama, children's and youth theater as well as modern and experimental theater, music theater is also part of the repertoire.

The majority of the events take place in the main venue, the courtyard of the Leuchtenberg castle ruins , as an open-air theater . The spectator seats are covered. In addition to the main venue, Leuchtenberg , Friedrichsburg Palace in Vohenstrauß is another venue. Kammerspiel productions can be seen there. In addition, the Vohenstrauß town hall and the regional library in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate are used as additional venues. Guest performances tour all over southern Germany .
