Burgo is a place and a former municipality in Portugal .
history
The current place was probably built after the Reconquista . It was called Vila Meã do Burgo or Burgo Novo de Arouca and in 1363 became the seat of its own district. In 1817 the district of Burgo was dissolved and incorporated into the district of Arouca as a separate municipality. In the course of the regional reform in Portugal on September 29, 2013, the municipality of Burgo was finally dissolved and merged with the municipality of Arouca to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Arouca e Burgo .

Burgo was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Arouca , in the district of Aveiro . 1993 residents lived in the municipality (as of June 30, 2011). With the territorial reform of 2013, Burgo was merged with Arouca to form the new municipality of Arouca e Burgo .
