The castle Schlösschen was a fortification of unknown time position between Tiefenort and the Krayenburg .

Location and function

The castle site of the hillside castle is 330  m above sea level. NN at the elevated reservoir of the Tiefenort water pipeline, roughly in the middle between the outskirts of Tiefenort and the Krayenburg .

The Krayenburg located on the conical Krayenberg had two access routes. The western entrance is known as the Eselsteig and served in the Middle Ages to supply the castle with water. From the east, a road led to the castle on the moderately steep ridge. This path can still be seen in the terrain as a ravine tuft. About 500 meters before the summit, the castle secured the access route as an external fortification. Perhaps the cattle from the surrounding areas were brought to safety here in times of need. The fortifications, designed as a rampart , existed before the medieval Krayenburg was built.
