The Burgvey ruin is the remainder of a medieval castle tower on the western slope of the Veybach about one kilometer east of Mechernich in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The castle is first mentioned in 1419 as a man's fief. There was probably a well-fortified house at this point, because silver coins from the middle of the 13th century were found there. The first fiefdom holder was Arnold von Lutrait (Leuterath), called Nechtersheim. It's a pretty rich knight . In 1481 the property was inherited from his son by Johann von Büdesheim. In 1506 Eberhard von Büdesheim and his wife Anna Gürtzgen von Schwerfen were the owners. In 1574 the Count of Blankenheim took the fiefdom . 1674 sold Count Salentin Ernst to Johann Bertram von Nesselrode . Since then, the building has not been used and fell into disrepair. The ruin was last bought by Dr. HF Callenberg.

In the past, the castle consisted only of a residential tower with a wall and farm buildings in front of it.
