Conservation status: Burgstall
Place: Altentreptow

The Altentreptow castle wall was a Slavic castle wall . It was located in the old town of Altentreptow in the Mecklenburg Lake District .

In 1128 Otto von Bamberg Christianized the Slavic nobles of Tribetow. An old pagan temple was demolished and a first wooden church was built on the same site. This was later demolished and replaced in stone. However, this tradition does not mean the present-day Altentreptow, as is wrongly spread! The tradition refers to Treptow an der Rega in today's Poland. Presumably the castle wall of Altentreptow was on the site of the Petrikirche .

Around 1190 or 1191, the noble Liutizen Heinrich and Borts (Boris), sons of Rannus (Ramno), founded an early German monastery in the town , which was built on the Klosterberg, then known as Marienberg , and existed there until 1239. Some field stones can still be seen on the edge of the plateau, which probably originate from the monastery complex.
