The castle wall of Ticino is an abandoned low castle on the southern outskirts of Ticino in the Rostock district , near the Recknitz .

The ground monument consists of an oval castle hill up to 90 meters in diameter. In the northeast is the only access route to the castle wall. As finds show, the castle dates from the Slavic to early German times. It was probably laid out in the early Middle Ages of the 7th to 9th centuries and has been constantly renewed and expanded over time. In 1121 the place was mentioned in a document as the Slavic castle "Tessyn". At that time it was probably a princely castle of the Kessiner . After the Slavs were finally subjugated in the course of the 12th century, the Christianized Slav prince Heinrich Borwin I built a German castle on the same site between 1209 and 1215. Up until the 15th century, the complex was rebuilt and expanded again and again and also served as a princely castle during this time. The castle site was probably given up in the 16th century, as the Bailiwick of Ticino finally ceased to exist in 1540. In modern times, an ice cellar was built on the castle wall , but it had fallen into disrepair over time. This ice cellar has been rebuilt as a tourist attraction since 2005. In the past centuries there was a windmill on the castle grounds , which is why the entire ground monument is now known as the “Mühlenberg”.

Another Slavic castle complex ( location ) may be located 250 meters southwest of the Mühlenberg . The field name "Oll Borg" or "Old Castle" indicates this. Finds of Yavian ceramics confirm this assumption.
